Why Starting A Business As A Beginner Might Be Difficult: My Personal Perspective

Keywords: Starting A Business, Business Owner, Business

As someone who has been wanting to form a business of their own I thought I would share my own opinion on what has been difficult for me as I continue on my path of wanting to own a business.

I’ll explain why starting a business has been difficult for me and elaborate on the mental and emotional roller coaster I’ve been on.

These thoughts are what I personally have been reflecting on and what I’ve found to be the roadblock in my journey to starting and maintaining a small business.

As I’ve scrolled endlessly through Tiktok I have witnessed so many business owners talking about their business, business start up, the hurdles and struggles they had to go through and what they have managed to accomplish. Sheepishly I admit that I find someone else’s success story to be intimidating. I understand the necessity and impact that small businesses have on the economy. I admire them for being able to address their audience so openly and free.

  1. Being a Business Owner Requires Being Vulnerable

Learn from those who did it first.

Blogging was actually my first attempt at business venture.

Yes, the very thing that you are reading right now. I came up with this idea years ago because I never felt like I had a good enough writing voice, style and I could never come up with any ideas to write about. But now I decided that if I was going to write about anything, it was going to be from my own person perspective instead of trying to create a fake identity that I wasn’t truthful. I realized that some people weren’t actually genuine writers and were just attempting to fake a personality that they were not living.

2.Not Accepting My Personal Standards

Just because I can, doesn’t mean that I should. I started getting interested in to drop shipping and other quick methods of wanting to earn money. The issue with this was that it conflicted with my desire to create a quality product. Drop shipping I wasn’t holding onto my own inventory and I couldn’t trust that the product would be acceptable to my standard.

3. Investing In My Business Idea

A lot of us can relate and say that in our households is wasn’t a common practice for our parents to encourage us to take on a business venture. It was much more riskier but I learned to weight that against the risk of taking out outstanding debt for a degree that I wasn’t even sure was going to land me a dream job. When I accepted this idea the fear of investing into my business idea wasn’t as intimidating.

4. The Market Is Already Saturated

Just because someone else is doing doesn’t mean you can’t do it better. I had this doubt that every thing I wanted to do was already taken by another business who was already successful.

5. I Didn’t Want To Listen To Those Who Already Made It

I’m hardheaded and I will choose the more difficult path before admitting defeat. I felt as though I was robbing people of their money if I solely choose to advertise based on attempting to get a sale. Regardless of whether or not the product was actually good.

To this day I still stand by this. Not everything that is seen on the internet is a necessity or actually solves a problem. Sometimes it is just a way for people to make quick cash. I don’t believe in that.

6. I Couldn’t Find My Purpose in the Industry

This is something that I still struggle with to this day. Finding a purpose in the small business industry. What kind of impact do I want to make? What do I want my brand to be about? I want my brand to be more than just about a product.

7. Instant gratification

While I would love to tell people about my business I don’t actually like that concept. The reason why is because my friends and family alone cannot support my business continously. What I desired the most was making a real 5+ a month earning. I had to stop seeking instant gratification and instead learn what I need to learn about being a business owner. Actually following the steps to become one.

Conclusions

I still haven’t successfully started a business or had a sale at all. After writing this I understand that I am still in the phase of development. Still deciding where should I go, what problems do I want to solve and who do I want to help. It’s important for me because as much as I want to be financially free, I also want to make a good impact through quality and high standards.
